About
The first photo I developed in a darkroom in 1961 at age 10. Taken at Camp Dark Waters in Medford NJ. The camp and the creek and the canoes are all still there!
It all started when…
Tom Langner, a friend of my mom’s, taught me, in his darkroom, to develop and print using an enlarger in 1961. Then I got a brownie movie camera and I was off to the races.
Fast forward to 1974. I had just quit smoking and as a reward I purchased my first 35mm camera (a Canon FTb) as a reward. I also brought my camera to my college (Antioch) Newspaper and started shooting assignments.
Fortunately for me, the Photo Editor of the paper, Ryck Lent, took me under his wing, mentored me, and showed, by example, how to take great newspaper photos. Eight thousand (not a typo!) photos later and I was hooked!
For the past ten years or so, I have taken a camera with me everywhere I went. That’s where the photos on this site have mostly come from.
Enjoy!
